The date attribute in our API will return the date displayed in the result, though it can be in the form of a formatted date (e.g. Oct 29, 2020) or a relative date (e.g. 3 days ago). Due to the sheer number of different possible response objects available, I'm only going to cover a few of them directly in this blog post. While the previous steps have all been quite straightforward, the changes to the response format handling will likely be the most involved for you depending on how much of the data you have been using.
All of the above query parameters, with the exception of textDecorations and textFormat can be used as-is or ported to use with our API. The official API's response format differs from our own so there are still changes to make, but we're part way there. Once you have signed up and verified your account, you will need to take note of your SerpApi API key found on your dashboard so that you can use it in the following steps.

Google is also adding Gemini-based answers to search results too, which appear at the top of the search result page. Microsoft isn't the only company adding AI-generated results to search pages. This new AI search experience has been built from the ground up with this concern in mind, Microsoft says. It will break down that answer into a document index that can provide more information about particular subjects within that search query if you'd like to learn more. It's also worth taking a look at our Bing Playground and performing a few searches to see it all in action.

Bing’s new AI section does retain clickable links to independent sources. The announcement post reads, “Early data indicates that this experience maintains the number of clicks to websites and supports a healthy web ecosystem.” Today’s update simply expands generative AI’s presence on-screen, so it shouldn’t result in any major goof-ups as we saw with Google’s AI Overviews.
However, Microsoft’s own example screenshot above shows an overwhelming preference for just the top search result. The automatic responses are typically helpful and well-rounded as they rely on multiple sources rather than quoting a single website. As for the quality of results, I’ve used Bing as my only search engine since last year partially because of the AI-generated summaries. Bing was the first search engine to embed AI responses directly within search pages early last year, shortly after Microsoft’s increased investment in ChatGPT creator OpenAI. According to Microsoft’s announcement post, only a small percentage of user queries will see Bing’s new generative search experience. Just weeks after Google took its foot off the accelerator with AI-generated overviews in search results, Microsoft is doubling down on the strategy instead.

Microsoft's AI advantage evaporates — Google surges ahead and OpenAI panics

Starting today, Bing’s search pages will display a split view with traditional web results on the right and AI-powered information boxes on the left. The company claims this new experience maintains the same number of clicks to websites that traditional search does, but time will tell if that's true. Currently available to a small subset of users, Bing Search now incorporates AI-generated answers in addition to traditional search results directly on the search page. Microsoft has announced a major update to Bing Search that overhauls the search results page with AI at the heart of its experience. Bing will soon prioritize AI-generated answers alongside traditional search results. Returned in the images.value key (array of images) in the official API, our API returns the equivalent in the inline_images.items key (array of images).

At the very top of the page will be an AI-generated answer created by large and small language models that have reviewed millions of sources to provide the most accurate answer. With the explosion of e-commerce and online search activity, every new product leaves a digital footprint, from Google Shopping listings and reviews to news mentions. Today, we are releasing an open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes our web search API to AI agents and developers through a familiar and common interface. The isFamilyFriendly attribute in the official API has no equivalent in our API. Significantly more is available on these organic results when using our API, so don't forget to check out the Bing Organic Results API documentation page.
The dateLastCrawled and datePublished attributes are not available and have no equivalent, however, the datePublishedDisplayText has a similar property in our result named date. The Bing search URL that would be found under webPages.webSearchUrl in the official API can be found under search_metadata.bing_url in our API. Returned in the webPages.value key (an array of results) in the official API, our API returns the equivalent in the top level organic_results key (an array of results). I wonder how many people are using Bing’s “Related Searches” feature to refine their original search query and find our clients’ websites?
The search page will also list the sources that the AI-generated text was created from below the answer, and will even present traditional search results in a sidebar on the right for those who are uninterested in Bing's curated AI experience. The images.readLink attribute in the official API which provides the URL for the equivalent API image search can be found at inline_images.serpapi_link in our API. Next we're going to authenticate via the api_key query parameter and remove the headers entirely as they're not necessary for any calls to our endpoint. Returned in the relatedSearches.value key (array of related searches) in the official API, our API returns the equivalent in the top level related_searches key (array of related searches). While Bing may never catch up to Google when it comes to search engine marketshare, it has the upper hand when it comes to related searches.

Snapchat is a fast and fun way to share the moment with your friends and familySNAP • Snapchat opens right to the Camera gtbet casino bonus — just tap to take a photo, or press and hold for video.• Express yourself with Lenses, Filters, Bitmoji and more! The “Searches related to” feature in Google has been available for quite some time now, but I don’t think I have ever used it, not even once (for searching purposes). Google, on the other hand, places its “Searches related to“ option at the bottom of their results or in the drilldown “Search Options” feature. If you are an experienced web surfer and you have spent any time on Bing lately, you have probably noticed where they’ve positioned their “Related Searches” option. AI is simply the next step, as evidenced by startups like Perplexity that threaten Microsoft and Google’s search dominance. However, this isn’t new — search engines have slowly evolved into answering engines ever since Google’s featured snippet debuted a decade ago.

The move was much better received than Google’s attempt, likely because it provided inline links to sources and citations similar to Wikipedia. However, other queries we tried (such as “what is Android”) still only display a small AI-generated overview at the top of a conventional result page. Curiously, this new experience doesn't appear to use the Copilot brand anywhere. The new Bing Generative Search experience is rolling out to a small wave of users now, and will likely make its way to more Bing users over the coming months. There's a growing concern in the industry that websites that create content for free will eventually go out of business if AI bots scrape that content to present it directly in a chat window or search page. Microsoft says it continues to evaluate the impact that AI in search is having on websites in terms of direct traffic and readership.
